A new season of economic diplomacy begins.

L’AQUILA – The capital of Abruzzo is at the forefront of strengthening relations between Italy and Türkiye, acting as a key player in an unprecedented historical moment for bilateral ties. The operational summit held at the headquarters of Confindustria L’Aquila Abruzzo Interno officially marks the launch of the “Region2Region” project.

This initiative follows the strong momentum generated by the respective Governments, which have identified industrial cooperation as the backbone of a renewed strategic partnership. The project, born from the synergy between Confindustria L’Aquila Interno and the Italian-Turkish Business Association (AIIT)—the official representative of the TÜRKONFED confederation—transforms the technical dialogue started on February 12 into a platform for real growth.

The meeting, opened by institutional greetings from Angelo Alloggia (Vice President of Confindustria L’Aquila) and Giuseppe Laghezza Masci (President of AIIT), focused on an ambitious goal: creating deep integration between territories. Thanks to the contributions of Süleyman Sönmez (President of TÜRKONFED), Burak Pehlivan (TÜRKONFED International), and Gino Costa (Invest in Turkey), real and mutual opportunities were illustrated, showcasing Türkiye as a natural hub for Italian expansion and vice versa.

The presence of the Regional Councilor for Productive Activities, Tiziana Magnacca, confirmed the Abruzzo Region’s full commitment to this governmental vision, aimed at building solid and structured bridges between the local productive fabric and the dynamic Turkish market. The “Region2Region” project is not merely a commercial agreement, but the pillar of a new Euro-Mediterranean economic architecture.
